Children make up over 25% of the population in Israel, and so it is not surprising that healthcare for children is paramount. It can be very stressful coping with a sick child, both practically and emotionally, and the aim of the medical teams across the board is to make the treatment process as smooth and stress-free as possible, both for the patient and the family too.

All the major medical centers in Israel have dedicated children’s hospitals. These include:

It has been specially designed to make the hospital experience child-friendly, with unique themes on each floor, and many educational and fun facilities. It was also built with the advancement of medical technology in mind, so that patients can have access to all the latest, most up-to-date treatment options, whatever illness or condition they are facing.
  • The Edmond and Lily Safra Children’s Hospital is part of the Sheba Medical Center. Part of their philosophy is to adopt a compassionate-care approach, including minimising pain by using optimal sedation, anesthesia and analgesic choices. The hospital has departments for many pediatric conditions, including PICU, neurology, pulmonology, oncology and hemato-oncology, and is also home to The National Cystic Fibrosis Center and the Congenital Heart Center.
  • The Wilf Children’s Hospital is part of the Shaare Zedek medical Center. It is one of the largest children’s hospitals in Israel, and includes a dedicated pediatric emergency room.
